Only needed it for 20 scale for USGS topographical maps. Other rulers were

triangular. This one is flat but sturdy metal, and ideal for mapping in the field,

flatness great for easy carry. Don't think I'll ever use other scales but it's a

clever design with a cut-out portion in the middle to allow use of other scales.
