I bought two as gifts for a couple young Engineers just starting their careers at the company.
I have had one for a long time. It is a convenient, quick reference for design engineering.
I was pleased to see the quality, price, and the fact that it is still available.

I first saw one of these things back in the mid-70's (I think - anyway, a long time ago) either in school or at one of my first jobs. If you do machine design, they are a necessity - so many things are bolted together, and this little gizmo gives you the day to day info you need for bolted or riveted joints - the sizes of bolt heads, wrench clearance needed, allen wrench sizes, drill bit common sizes, stress area for strength calculations - all in a gizmo that never needs re-booting, never crashes, and doesn't take up much room on your desk. Spilled coffee and UV from sunlight will get them though! I'm on my 3rd one in my career.

I design wooden and aluminum fixtures and jigs for building acoustic guitars in my workshop. I used this data selector when I used to design test fixtures for missiles from aluminum and magnesium. It is very useful for specifying the size of holes, bolts and layouts for wrench clearances.

awesome! been using since 1988. lost the original. alvin went out of business or discontinued. nice to be able to find online.

This is a handy tool for use during new designs. It helps with layouts and also helps with screw and thread pitch selections for my designs. Very handy! And well made too.
