When I got my K & E drafting set way back in 1970 it also included a few extra compass leads in a metal capsule along with a few spare parts as well. Being a young and downright ignorant forestry school student I had now idea of any vendors who sold this stuff and I was worried at that time about what to do when the day came when I would need replacement leads. Of course there was no internet back then but as time went by I did find out that such an item was indeed readily available and for that I am thankful.
