Pros:
  • Light weight
Cons:
  • Doesn’t lock well to the parallel bar
For what it is , it’s a good value. It works well as far as the mechanics of changing it to different angles, it’s light weight, doesn’t take up too much room, and I do like it. The only issue I have ( and its a small issue at that) is it doesn’t clamp on the parallel bar as tight as I would like it too. Other than that I’d encourage anyone that has the same drawing board that this piece will go on then I’d say purchase it.

Cons:
I ordered this drafting head hoping I could use it with a different board than the one it's supposed to go with (I have the PXB26). And although technically not compatible, I'm finding it works OK. I just rest the horizontal arm of the drafting head against the PXB's parallel arm and it works fine. I can slide the drafting head left and right as needed along the parallel arm and by maintaining slight pressure against the arm the drafting head's angle remains quite stable. I like the preset angle detents of the drafting head - mostly. If I want to set a non-standard angle that's close to one of the presets, it wants to jump into the preset's detent. With a little effort it can be locked into position slightly out of the preset position, as shown in the attached picture. Slight negative, but I can work with it. I would also like it if the rules were longer than 6"x6" but there are ways to deal with that, too. It's mostly plastic and thus a little flimsy, but for my use it will be fine. Overall I'm happy with it. I with there was a product like this available with interchangeable scales.
