Portable drawing and drafting board with built-in parallel straightedge for all kinds of creative and technical applications. Perfect for students and those who need an accurate drawing surface but don't have the space for a full-size drafting table. Fully assembled!

    Features:
    • Available in multiple sizes: 16" x 21", 18" x 24", 20" x 26", 23" x 31", 24" x 36" or 30" x 42"
    • Aluminum straightedge with soft, rubber edges for enhanced grip, comfort and control. Straightedge glides smoothly up and down the board while the cross-wire and pulley system underneath keeps it parallel in any position.
    • Straightedge can travel within 1/4" of the top and bottom edges of the board to maximize usage of the entire board surface.
    • Crystal clear acrylic blade is 0.12" thick and includes inking edges underneath to minimize smudging. Blade clearance is 3/16" for use with foam board, cutting mats, and more.
    • Straightedge has brake mechanisms on each end for secure, positive locking in any location on the board. Large brake knobs include rubber grips for comfort.
    • Straightedge has top-mounted adjustment knobs on each end for fine-tuning parallelism. Especially useful when reinserting a drawing on the board for additional work.
    • Smooth, white Melamine surface for bump-free drawing. Particle board substrate is 0.63" thick for strength and durability.
    • Folding metal legs are set at an angle to prevent accidental collapse and include rubber-dipped ends to prevent scratching.
    • Boards can be used in the elevated or flat position.
    • Rubber grip tracks underneath allow front of board to overhang a table edge up to 8". This increases the working angle and brings the drawing surface closer to the user.
    • Large, comfortable carry handle
    • Drawing board is CARB compliant and all components are phthalate and lead-free

The Alvin design for the board itself is good. However, for anyone who still drafts, the parallel rule is terrible, which makes the board totally useless. If you've ever used a Spiroliner Drafting board you will be frustrated with the Alvin parallel rule immediately. It doesn't stay parallel regardless of how you adjust it and you need to pick it up each time you need to move it. Don't waste your money on this.

Alvin makes a parallel rule with rollers that costs as much as this total board assembly. That rule mimics the Spiroliner rule.

I had an issue initially with the parallel attachment - there was significant play allowing nearly 10 degrees of deviation from parallel. I ultimately found that one of the "wire capture T-nuts" wasn't properly clamping the wire. That was an easy fix and the parallel attachment now remains parallel when moved up and down the board. It slides smoothly and can be lifted off the work surface to clear thicker materials. I purchased the 20"x26" size and it is a great fit for my small (and crowded) workspace. I like the fact that it can overhang the edge of my desk, increasing the work surface angle. Overall I'm very happy with it.

    • unreliable
Soon after purchasing the table with attached parallel bar, the bar doesn't stay parallel when shifting it as it should. This was also observed and confirmed by a university professor during its use.
