the right items for learning drafting

I purchased the drafting kit and T-square for my grandson. he expressed interest in designing a deck similar to my deck. I spent the better part of 45 years in the Engineering design field and always professed that you need to know how to layout and draw your ideas prior to starting any project at home or elsewhere.
The scale arrived broken but you promptly sent out another, much appreciated.
