I bought one of these Alvin adjustable lamp clamps 15 years ago, and it was the defining technology for all lamp clamps at the time.

It's all-metal construction made it very durable and long lasting, and its adjustability allowed me to position my swing arm lamp in some rather unorthodox ways, including straight up at the ceiling when those high powered LED lamps became available.

Alas, quality is secondary to quantity these days, and I count myself lucky that Dew had any left in stock. The price reflected its rarity, and after tax I ended up spending close to $50 for this lamp clamp.

Anyone that didn't know its value might get sticker shock at this; well, so did I, but I knew it was exactly what I needed. It will last longer than I will be alive, that's how durable it is.
